A 7-year-old boy whose older brother was found strangled and dismembered in a trash bin in Hacienda Heights is remaining in protective custody during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, an attorney for the boy’s mother said.

Nabeel Parwez’s parents, who are battling for custody of their son, appeared at a two-hour closed hearing Wednesday before Superior Court Judge Ernest Williams, attorney Phillip Kelly said. The hearing was continued until Monday.

Kelly, who represents Amtul Karim Parwez, the boy’s mother, is prohibited from discussing the hearing in detail but said that two witnesses appeared and another four witnesses were scheduled Monday.
