A troubled Army child-care center in San Francisco’s Presidio has been shut down until next month, about a year after a child complained of being sexually molested. The Army says the shutdown of the center is temporary, and volunteers and parents plan to begin sprucing up the center to reopen possibly as early as Dec. 14. Parents of 135 children who attend the center have found day-care services off the Army base, and another 50 are still looking, said base spokesman Bob Mahoney. Since the first case of alleged child molestation surfaced, the Army has concluded that at least 58 young children who attended the facility were molested. Former day-care center worker Gary Hambright has been indicted in connection with the alleged molestations of 10 children.
