A 7-month-old Bolivian baby died of malnutrition on Wednesday night, the victim of her mother’s hunger strike to press the government to provide work for her husband, a human rights official said Thursday.

The official said the mother of Maria Isabel Quispe, one of more than 100 women fasting to demand jobs for ex-miners, was suffering from advanced anemia and could not provide her nursing child with sufficient nourishment.
