BEIJING —
China hired a West German professor on Friday, the first foreign expert to be employed in the country’s budding nuclear power program, the official New China News Agency said.
Prof. Hans Frewer, 60, a special consultant on nuclear safety to the West German government, will be an adviser at the Qinshan nuclear power plant, being built in the eastern province of Zhejiang.
The 300-megawatt plant is China’s first nuclear power station to be designed and built by Chinese themselves.
