Canada’s air travel system struggled to absorb thousands of passengers stranded by a strike at Air Canada that entered its third day. About 8,500 ground workers are off the job, forcing the government-owned airline to cancel all scheduled flights. However, Air Canada said some charter flights are operating this weekend. Also, other airlines, such as Canadian Airlines International, Wardair and Air British Columbia, added flights to accommodate the displaced travelers. No negotiations were scheduled this weekend. Talks broke down Nov. 15 over a union demand that pensions be indexed to inflation increases.
