Highwayman Revisited

Stan Delaplane sadly overlooked the ancient capital of Cornwall, Lostwithiel, on the River Fowey south of Bodmin. The town has not grown a great deal over the past 800 years and has thus retained much of its charm. Within its boundary stones are the 12th-Century Restormel Castle, the 13th-Century church and Duchy Palace among many other historic buildings. The town has many pubs which take boarders, such as the great Royal Oak (Charles I, according to legend, hid in an oak tree nearby during the civil war Battle of Lostwithiel). I highly recommend anyone who visits Cornwall to make a point of stopping at Lostwithiel.
