MEXICO CITY —
A labor leader has set a Dec. 15 deadline for a nationwide work stoppage after talks between government officials and Mexico’s top business and labor bosses failed to reach agreement on emergency wage increases.
Fidel Velazquez, the 87-year-old president of the Confederation of Mexican Workers, the country’s leading labor organization, set the deadline late Tuesday after government and business leaders refused to bow to the union’s demands for a 46% wage boost.
