Israel’s military chief announced a shake-up to punish soldiers for security lapses that allowed a guerrilla on a hang glider to infiltrate the northern border and carry out the bloodiest attack inside Israel in nearly a decade. Chief of Staff Dan Shomron ordered two soldiers to face courts-martial, and the commander of the base was removed from his post. The announcement also said that steps are being taken to correct holes in Israel’s security net in the wake of the Nov. 25 raid near the town of Kiryat Shemona by an Arab commando that killed six soldiers and wounded seven.
