Murray Pleads No Contest, Is Fined

SAN DIEGO — Gerald Murray, the center suspended from the San Diego State basketball team after his arrest last week on suspicion of dealing drugs, pleaded no contest Wednesday in San Diego Municipal Court to disturbing the peace in a separate incident and was fined $261.
The charge stems from a Jan. 2 arrest in East San Diego for solicitation of a lewd act in public. That charge was dismissed Wednesday when Murray agreed to plead no contest to disturbing the peace.
Murray, a 6-foot 8-inch senior from Detroit, also was fined $60 after pleading no contest for failing to appear in court on the original charge.
Murray, who was arrested Nov. 24 after police said he sold an undisclosed amount of cocaine to an undercover officer, is scheduled to be arraigned today in San Diego Municipal Court on three counts of selling cocaine and three counts of possessing cocaine for sale. The charges stem from four alleged cocaine-related incidents in the past four months.
