A judge in Denver ordered two white supremacists convicted of civil rights violations in the slaying of radio talk show host Alan Berg to serve 150 years in prison, on top of their earlier sentences for racketeering. U.S. District Judge Richard P. Matsch sentenced David Lane, 48, and Bruce Pierce, 33, members of the neo-Nazi group The Order, and said they will have to serve at least 50 years of their sentences before they are eligible for parole. “A life sentence would not be sufficient in this case,” he said. They were tried, along with Jean Craig, 54, and Richard Scutari, 40, on civil rights violations in the fatal shooting of Berg, who used his radio show to insult white supremacists and their beliefs. Berg, who was Jewish, was gunned down at his Denver residence in June, 1984. Craig and Scutari were acquitted.
