The Afghan rebel alliance rejected suggestions that it join the Moscow-supported ruling party in Kabul in an interim coalition to govern while Soviet troops withdraw from Afghanistan. “We cannot accept any coalition,” alliance leader Younis Khalis said in a response to suggestions put forth mainly by Pakistan President Zia ul-Haq. “We will continue our (holy war) until we establish an Islamic government.”
