National Technical Systems’ fiscal third-quarter profit more than doubled from a year earlier on a 23% gain in revenue.
NTS, a Calabasas firm that provides testing and engineering services for the aerospace and defense industries, said net income in the quarter ended Oct. 31 jumped to $250,000, or 7 cents a share, from $107,000, or 3 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue rose to $7.5 million from $6.1 million.
The results extended NTS’ recovery from a $1.8-million loss in its fiscal year ended Jan. 31, a year that was marked by the company’s decision to abandon several loss-ridden operations.
For the first nine months of its current fiscal year, NTS earned $860,000, or 22 cents a share, contrasted with a $545,000 loss a year earlier. Nine-month revenue rose to $20 million from $16.2 million.
