Jailed Journalist Freed by Bangladesh

DHAKA, Bangladesh —
Authorities Tuesday freed a Bangladeshi journalist working for the British Broadcasting Corp. and the Christian Science Monitor after detaining him for two weeks, the journalist said.
Ataus Samad, 50, was arrested Nov. 23, three days after President Hussain Mohammed Ershad accused British media of distorted coverage of strikes that paralyzed Bangladesh.
