Long Beach : Church Zone Change OKd

The Long Beach City Council has approved a zoning change to allow a church to be built off Pacific Coast Highway near Alamitos Heights. But Councilwoman Jan Hall bluntly warned leaders of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church that they had better scale down their plans if they hope to win final approval for the project.

Neighbors from posh condominium developments in the area near Colorado Street have expressed concern about the size of the project, traffic and parking problems. Church leaders said they are revising their plans to try to meet neighborhood concerns.
