Local News in Brief : Florance Won’t Run Again
Palos Verdes Estates City Councilman Ronald Florance says he will not seek reelection to the council when his term expires in April.
“It’s time for new blood on the council,” Florance announced at Tuesday night’s meeting. He has served since 1980.
No one has expressed an interest in seeking either of the two council seats up for grabs in April, said Scotty Steiner, secretary to both the City Council and the city manager. “We haven’t heard a word from anyone and we’re kind of surprised at that, “ she said.
The other council position has been empty since last spring, when it was vacated by Barbara Culver, who resigned to become city clerk. The council chose not to fill the seat by appointment.
