L.A.-Area Students Are Design Contest Finalists

Three Los Angeles-area students are among 29 finalists in a contest to design “the suit of the future,” sponsored by Massachusetts-based Anderson Little Manufacturing Co., makers of business attire for men and women.

The firm sent out applications to 150 design schools around the country, received 700 futuristic entries and will select the winning man’s and woman’s suit designs on Jan. 25 in Boston. The two grand-prize winners will get a trip to Milan, Italy, to see the fall fashion collections.

Los Angeles-area finalists are Cynthia Phillips and Kelly Watson of Brooks College in Long Beach and Jayne F. Somogy of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Los Angeles.
