A deputy district attorney accused of creating a disturbance in a West Hollywood restaurant has resigned.

Guerin Butterworth, 31, quit her job two days before her one-year probationary period was due to end, said Denis Petty, director of branch and area operations for the district attorney’s office.

Last month, the co-owners of Tex Mex Cafe at 1108 N. Flores St. placed Butterworth under citizen’s arrest, saying she slapped one of them after they asked her to leave. She, in turn, arrested them, saying they had tried to forcibly eject her from the establishment’s restroom.

Petty said the incident “was under investigation when (Butterworth) resigned” Wednesday.

“She left voluntarily and not for any other reason,” said a friend of Butterworth, Sheriff’s Deputy Dirk Edmundson. He said Butterworth would have no comment.
