Upland Rector Joins List of Episcopal Bishop Nominees
The Rev. Charles Bennison, rector of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Upland, has been added to the list of four nominees for the position of bishop of the six-county Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, a spokeswoman for the diocese announced Friday.
Bennison was added to the group after the Very Rev. Alan W. Jones, dean of San Francisco’s Grace Cathedral, dropped his candidacy last month. The election for a successor to the late Robert Rusack will be held Jan. 8-9 in Los Angeles. Bennison will be the lone nominee from Southern California.
The other candidates are the Revs. James A. Trimble, Frederick H. Borsch, Thomas F. Pike and Lloyd S. Casson.
