6th Straight Draw in Chess Match Keeps Score Tied

The 22nd game of the world chess championship was drawn Friday in Seville, Spain. Only two games remain in the 24-game match between titleholder Gary Kasparov and challenger Anatoly Karpov. The score is tied, 11-11.

Friday’s game, the sixth draw in a row, was short and dull. Kasparov, with the advantage of the white pieces, made no attempt to win. He will retain his title if the match ends in a 12-12 t1768238624champion. His last chance with the white pieces comes in the 23rd game, scheduled for Monday.
