Suspected Communist rebels, staging their boldest raid yet in the Manila area, attacked a military post, triggering a fire fight near the airport where some Asian heads of state will arrive today for a summit of the Assn. of Southeast Asian Nations. Philippine reinforcements were called in from nearby Camp Bonifacio, but the rebels, numbering between 30 and 40, were driven off in a 30-minute gun battle before the troops arrived. The incident highlighted security fears surrounding the ASEAN summit, which begins Monday.
