Israeli Troops Storm Hospital in Gaza Strip

Israeli soldiers stormed into this city’s main hospital today, firing tear gas and kicking and punching youths who hurled firebombs and stones in another day of protests in which at least one Arab teen-ager was killed.

Palestinian news reports said that three other Arabs died today and that 15 were wounded in the rash of disturbances along the coastal strip.

Demonstrations also swept through major towns in the occupied West Bank.

A U.N. official in the Gaza Strip where 600,000 Arabs live said the escalation of violence that began a week ago appeared to stem in part from harassment by Israeli troops.

The official said that in two recent instances, soldiers tied blindfolded Palestinian boys to the hoods of their jeeps to prevent stone throwing as they toured Jelazoun refugee camp. A soldier also was seen urinating in a reservoir that serves 80,000 refugees in Khan Yunis, sparking riots in the town Monday, the official said.

Youth Dragged by Hair

In Gaza City today, about 50 soldiers spent 20 minutes driving Arab protesters from the grounds of Shifa Hospital and charged inside to chase out teen-agers who ran inside for cover, witnesses said.

Troops kicked and punched Palestinian youths, detaining dozens, a photographer at the scene said. One youth was seen being dragged by his hair to an Israeli army truck, where he fell to his knees.
