Austrian Yule Amnesty

VIENNA —
President Kurt Waldheim has ordered the release of 798 prisoners from Austrian jails as a Christmas amnesty, the Justice Ministry said in a statement issued Wednesday. The pardoned prisoners, to be released today, will not include those sentenced to terms of more than five years or for crimes such as sexual abuse of children.
