Apple Computer Inc. said it expects to report record earnings and revenue for the three-month period ending Jan. 1. The company’s stock price rose following the announcement but finished the day unchanged at $39.25. “Sales in both our product families are exceeding our expectations due to strong demand,” said John Sculley, chairman and chief executive. Earnings for the fiscal year that ended Sept. 25 were $217 million on sales of $2.66 billion, compared to $154 million on sales of $1.9 billion in fiscal 1986.
