Brand Name Dropping

Share

I drafted this letter on a Lewis Almeida real estate pad, with a pen from Ferrymead Printing Museum in Christchurch, New Zealand.

I then “processed” it on a Sanyo 1250 computer and printed it out on a Brother HR-25 letter quality printer, using a 1012 Prestige print wheel, a Brother carbon double-strike ribbon from Fedco and laser-cut paper from Printland in Santa Monica.

I mailed it in a legal-sized envelope from Standard Brands Paper in Santa Monica, bearing a 22-cent stamp from the U.S. Post Office, as well as two stickers, one from the Humane Society and the other from ASH (Action on Smoking and Health).

All this in a vain effort to top Patrick Goldstein’s Dec. 7 performance in an article about a TV show I never heard of (“ ‘Private Eye’--Case Closed?”), in which he managed to break even The Times’ amazing record on Plug-ola by getting three brand names into his one-sentence lead paragraph.
