Syria, Oman Plan Ties

DAMASCUS, Syria —
Oman and Syria have agreed to establish diplomatic relations and exchange ambassadors, the official Syrian news agency SANA said Sunday.
The two countries have not had diplomatic relations since they became independent. Britain recognized the independence of Oman in 1951, while Syria achieved independence in 1946.
