National Semiconductor reported income of $11.1 million...

National Semiconductor reported income of $11.1 million for its second quarter ended Nov. 29, a turnaround from a loss of $5.7 million in the year-ago period. The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company’s said revenue was $640 million during this year’s 13-week quarter, up from $456.8 million during the 12-week quarter last year. The earnings for the most recent quarter--the company’s third profitable quarter in a row--were boosted by a one-time $1.5-million tax credit. Sales were up in both the company’s semiconductor and systems groups.
