Four Eastern Airlines flight attendants were suspended without pay for 30 days because they threatened to walk off a flight in Denver unless a jetliner’s wings were de-iced, union officers said. The Dec. 14 incident at Denver’s Stapleton Airport occurred only a month after 28 people died in the crash of a Continental Airlines plane taking off from the same facility. Federal experts are investigating whether ice buildup on the wings was a factor. The Eastern captain disagreed with the need for de-icing but had it done rather than cancel the flight.
