Demand for senior level executives rose 11% in 1987, according to a quarterly report released by Korn/Ferry International. Despite the October 19 stock market crash, demand for senior managers in the fourth quarter climbed 12% above last year’s level. The index is based on a quarterly survey of 750 Korn/Ferry clients--including corporations, non-profit organizations, government agencies, universities and cultural institutions--hiring executives earning $100,000 or more annually. In the 1987 fourth quarter, demand for general managers stood at 41% of total senior executive demand; for financial officers, it shrank to 11% from about 16% for the past year.
