Local News in Brief : Redevelopment Forum Set

The Inglewood-South Bay branch of the NAACP is inviting city and school officials, business people and residents to a public discussion about redevelopment in Inglewood Jan. 23.

Stewart Alexander, a vice president of the chapter of the National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People, said the discussion will concern creating jobs and investment opportunities for blacks and other minorities in Inglewood.

The NAACP has invited representatives from the City Council, the city administration and Redevelopment Agency, the school board, the Chamber of Commerce and the Police Department to the event from 3 to 6 p.m. at Inglewood High School.

Alexander said all residents will be asked to take part in a discussion of the city’s economic state and the development strategies being pursued by the city’s business and political leaders.
