Local News in Brief : Salary Survey Proposed
Carson officials have proposed surveying 17 Southern California cities to find out how much they pay their employees in an effort to set new salary schedules for the city’s 744 workers.
The salary survey was suggested by Ewing Co., an Orange-based management consulting firm hired by the city to review administrative practices. The cost of the survey has not been determined.
Cities on the list, which goes before the City Council Jan. 5, were chosen because they are similar in size and population to Carson.
City Administrator Dick Gunnarson said the city’s unions have reviewed the list. The survey cities are Compton, Downey, El Monte, Inglewood, Irvine, Lakewood, Norwalk, South Gate, Burbank, Costa Mesa, Santa Monica, West Covina, Westminster, Whittier, Alhambra, Fullerton and Orange.
