In Defense of ‘Glorious Excess’

“Oh, glorious excess.” This line sets the tone for your article on the Fountain Valley neighborhood’s Christmas decorations by staff writer Dianne Klein. It is one of the most sarcastic pieces of journalism I have yet read on what to many people is the most wonderful season of the year.

The people in this neighborhood do, indeed, take the display of Christmas past the point where most people might choose to, but their colossal efforts are appreciated greatly by the hundreds of people who reportedly drive by to see the spectacle. To denigrate their gift in lightly veiled cynicism is lamentable.
