Barricades Replaced

WASHINGTON —
The National Park Service today began removing eyesore concrete barricades in front of the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue and replacing them with better looking posts and chains to maintain security. The so-called “Jersey barriers,” made of solid concrete, were erected in November, 1983, when Washington was under a terrorism scare.
