Local News in Brief : Bottled Water Recalled

Bourassa Canadian Glacial Bottled Water Co. on Friday voluntarily recalled its “naturally pure” product from sale in the Los Angeles area because of trace contamination by five organic compounds.

The California Department of Health Services said that the small concentration of the chemicals is not likely to cause illness, “but the contaminants produce an unpleasant odor and taste.” The bottled water has been distributed in the region since October, 1987. Bourassa said consumers with unopened bottles of its product should return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
