Police in Berkeley arrested four protesters as they scaled a fence during a demonstration urging the city to open a vacant house to the homeless. About 80 people attended the demonstration in front of the small, boarded-up home, where activists gave free hot dogs and hamburgers to the homeless. Fantasy Records, which owns the house, had offered to lease the house to the city of Berkeley. But city officials said the two-bedroom house is too small to do much good and would cost about $15,000 to bring up to code.
