Irene Faberge Gunst; Descendant of Goldsmith to Czars

Irene Faberge Gunst, 62, a jeweler and granddaughter of Peter Carl Faberge, goldsmith to the Czars of Russia. A native of Paris, Ms. Gunst worked there in the studio of her grandfather, father and three uncles, all of whom escaped from Russia during the revolution. Her own collection of Faberge pieces was part of a 170-piece show of the art at the M. H. de Young Museum in San Francisco in 1964. Her grandfather was best known for his Faberge eggs, ornate creations of gold and jewels created for the Russian royal family during the reign of the last two czars. In Burlingame, Calif., on Dec. 26 of a heart attack.
