DOGGIN’ AROUND: TV’s ubiquitous canine pitchman Spuds MacKenzie (who’s officially known as Bud Lite’s senior party consultant) is back again--this time capitalizing (as in Capitol Records) on his party-animal image to help sell a rock oldies collection. Due out March 1, MacKenzie’s “Party Faves” will offer Spuds supporters such original hits as “Gimme Some Lovin’,” “I Get Around,” “The Wanderer,” “Time Won’t Let Me” and (of course) “Louie Louie.” . . . Remember Marty Jourard, who played sax and keyboards in the Motels? He’s back, fronting his own band--Locomotive, a hard-bopping R&B; band which has been building a good rep on the local club circuit. . . . And while we’re on the club front: Bonnie Bramlett was such a big hit at her recent Coconut Teaszer appearance that the R&B; belter will be a regular at the club each Wednesday and Thursday for the rest of the month. Our pick show is this Thursday’s date, which features Bramlett (with her Bandaloo Doctors band) plus two local faves--the World’s Cutest Killers and Broken Homes. . . . You don’t need to go out steppin’ to see Victoria Williams live--just tune in Deidre O’Donoughue’s always-eclectic “SNAP,” which will feature an informal Williams live performance at 10 p.m. on KCRW-FM (89.9).
