Colleges Begin Drive to Recruit Minorities

Officials of the Claremont Colleges have begun a new outreach program to attract more minority students by inviting blacks and Latinos from 31 Los Angeles-area high schools to all-day visits on the campuses.

Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, Pitzer, Pomona and Scripps Colleges will pay transportation and expenses for an estimated 1,600 academically qualified minority students who have been invited to attend the programs that will be held from late January through May.
