Canal Opened by Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq —
A 40-mile canal has been opened linking the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, the Iraqi News Agency reported. The canal, built by Iraqi companies with Soviet advice, cost $333 million and will supply the Tigris with water from the artificial Tharthar Lake in the dry season.
