Australian baritone Jonathan Summers will make his San Diego Opera debut as the Count di Luna in next month’s “Il Trovatore,” but he will be forgiven if that first seems a bit anticlimactic.
This Friday he makes his debut at the Metropolitan Opera in Puccini’s “La Boheme.” The rest of the cast, including tenor superstar Luciano Pavarotti and Italian diva Mirella Freni, is not too shabby, either.
