Palomar College is offering its annual free High School Dance Workshop on Saturday at the college’s San Marcos campus dance studio. More than 100 North County high school dance students are expected for this all-day session with Palomar dance faculty and students.

“The object of the workshop is twofold,” said Mary Neuru, a veteran dance instructor at Palomar College. “It gives the young dancers in our community an opportunity to see the dance facilities and meet the dance teachers at Palomar College, and it helps build important communication between the dance faculty at our high schools and at Palomar.”

The program begins at 8:30 a.m. with a ballet warm-up, then proceeds with classes in modern, jazz, and theater dance. The workshop will culminate with “performance sharing”--a time when each high school group performs its own choreography for the others.
