The World : Aquino Results Still Mixed

Partial Philippine vote results showed candidates backed by President Corazon Aquino leading in two-thirds of the races for governor, but faring less well in Manila area mayoral contests. Early results were available from 33 provinces, but not from 29 others where voting for regional posts took place Monday. In 11 provinces, voting was rescheduled for later this month and February due to fears of violence. Also Tuesday, the military released revised figures showing that 103 people had been killed in election-related violence since campaigning began in December.
