Shevardnadze, Spanish Prime Minister Meet
Soviet Foreign Minister Eduard A. Shevardnadze, slowed down by a bout of influenza, met with Spanish Prime Minster Felipe Gonzalez on Wednesday at the start of a three-day visit.
Shevardnadze traveled to Madrid from West Germany in his first visit to North Atlantic Treaty Organization countries since the December signing in Washington of a Soviet-U.S. treaty to eliminate ground-based intermediate-range nuclear missiles.
A Soviet Embassy official said Shevardnadze was suffering from influenza, causing a two-hour delay in his scheduled agenda.
