A strike by members of the San Francisco Symphony resulted in more performance cancellations over the weekend, but talks continued Monday and management remained optimistic about the group’s coming local appearances and an Asian tour scheduled for next month. The strike by musicians began last Tuesday, when negotiations over an already-expired contract broke down. A published report said rehearsal scheduling and medical benefits--and not money--are at the heart of the impasse. Members of the orchestra are scheduled to leave early next month for a three-week trip to China, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
