An anti-Jane Fonda campaign is spreading among New England veterans. Former servicemen and women in the Chicopee, Mass., area are protesting plans to film portions of Fonda’s movie “Union Street” there this summer because of her 1972 visit to North Vietnam. “Chicopee’s 13 veterans organizations have gotten together and have gone on the record opposing (Fonda) coming into the area to make the film,” said Paul Morin, state commander of the American Legion and a Vietnam vet. “We will protest in some form if she comes into the area.” Similar complaints were made last month in nearby Waterbury, Conn., where plans are already in full swing to begin filming the story of a woman who teaches her illiterate lover to read and write.
