A black South African teen-ager who was interviewed in CBS’ controversial “Children of Apartheid” documentary last month was found shot in the head five days after police questioned him about his appearance on the program. The body of Godfrey Sicelo Dlomo, 18, was discovered Monday under a tree near his grandmother’s house in Soweto. Police said they found the body after receiving an anonymous tip. His mother, Slyvia Jele, told the Associated Press that Dlomo had been hiding from police “because they said they would kill him.” Police said they expected relatives to blame them. “We want to know why was he killed after he made a statement to us (the police),” said Brig. Leon Mellet, a spokesman for the Ministry of Law and Order. Dlomo was questioned last Wednesday at Johannesburg police headquarters about “serious allegations” he made in the CBS program and two European documentaries, Mellet said. Mellet said Dlomo alleged that he had been beaten and tortured while in police detention and that police wanted to question him about his statements.
