- Virginia Sublett, the San Diego soprano who made a sterling impression with New York City Opera this fall, has been signed to sing the vocal solo in the San Diego Symphony’s March 18-19 performances of Mahler’s Fourth Symphony.

This week, Sublett is rehearsing with Los Angeles Music Center Opera for its Feb. 16-21 production of Benjamin Britten’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream,” in which she sings the role of Titania. The company’s new production of Britten’s 1960 setting of Shakespeare’s play will be staged at the Wiltern Theatre under the direction of Gordon Davidson.

Later this season, Sublett will join City Opera’s spring tour for a reprise of her “Queen of the Night” role in Mozart’s “The Magic Flute.”
