Relatives of all 31 victims of a fire in a major London subway station last November will get compensation, the London Regional Transport authority said. Chairman Keith Bright said relatives’ worries that some families would be excluded and payments restricted to the statutory minimum of $6,200 per death are unfounded. The agency’s board has yet to decide its offer. Lawyer Mark Mildred, representing the victims’ families, told a news conference that he welcomes Bright’s statement as a step in the right direction but urged the board to come out with an acceptable offer.
