Delta Air Lines Inc. reported that second-quarter net income rose 19% to $88.3 million from the comparable 1986 quarter. However, the profit included a gain of $50.8 million from the sale of aircraft. The Atlanta-based carrier’s strong results were in part due to its wresting market share from Texas Air’s Eastern Airlines unit.
