The MacArthur Foundation in Chicago announced 65 grants totaling more than $13 million to educational institutions, organizations and individuals throughout the world for promoting international peace and cooperation with special projects. Among the recipients were several universities for various graduate fellowships and research programs, as well as arms control centers in Europe and the United States for undergraduate internships. Among those receiving the largest amounts were Columbia University, New York, $600,000; Stanford University, Stanford, Calif., $600,000, and UC Berkeley, $600,000.
