The Dodgers soon will announce the resignation of Bill Shumard as director of community services and special events, completing a changeover in their public relations department since they hired Tommy Hawkins as vice president of communications.

Shumard, who has been with the Dodgers since 1975, is expected to move to USC as assistant athletic director in charge of public relations.

Steve Brener, who had been with the Dodgers for 18 years, previously resigned as publicity director and was hired as director of public relations and marketing at Hollywood Park.
